Tephrocactus kuehnrichianus var. applanatus (Cactus)

The name of the Tephrocactus genus derives from the Greek 'tephra' - 'ash', which refers to the greyish shades of the epidermis. It is a cactus with a green-gray oval stem, which branches out over time. From the downy areoles, the short yellow to brownish spines arise. You have to be very careful when moving or transferring the plant, because its segments come off easily.
