Tephrocactus alexanderi f. crestata (Cactus)

The crested form of this species is extremely rare and, for this reason, highly sought after by collectors from all over the world: in this form the cactus has one or more segments arranged in a fan, which make each specimen absolutely unique, never exactly the same as others. In its normal form, T. alexanderi is a cactus with a globular or ovoid stem, consisting of several segments that grow one on top of the other and detach easily, but just as easily root to the ground. The epidermis is grayish-green in color, equipped with numerous long, straight or slightly curved downward spines, ranging in color from cream to dark gray.
