Parodia penicillata (Cactus)

Cactacea characterized by a globose stem, tending to become cylindrical with growth. Equipped with conical emerald green tubercles, deeply protruding and slightly spiraled, this exemplar boasts very large, creamy and woolly areoles; from the latter come out white-coloured vitreous and reflective yellowish spines, similar to bristles of a brush especially at the apex, where they join in thick groups and head upwards like a tuft (typical of the genus Parodia). Unlike the radial spines, which are softer and thinner, the central ones keep the same light shade but are much longer and stiffer. The complex that is obtained takes on a strongly wild and thorny character, in which the body of the cactus is almost completely hidden by the tangle of bristles. In summer, the charm of the cactus is further accentuated by bright, very large flowers, which bloom at the apex of the plant with their reddish-orange hues, characterized by petals so bright that they look like silk: the wonderful color contrast that you create will leave you speechless!
