The crested shape of this fan-shaped cactus remains smaller, than the classic Nyctocereus. The scientific name of this plant is Peniocereus serpentinus, but it is also commonly called "queen of the night", due to its unusual habit of blooming at night, producing very fragrant flowers, which are rather large, of a white color, with pink shaded margins. Precisely its much loved inflorescences are one of the main reasons, why this cactus is grown. It is a very spiny cactus, of a typical light green color, with brown-reddish, thin and prickly spines.
