Neoporteria coimasensis (Cactus)

This globe cactus can become cylindrical with growth and can reach up to 40 cm in height. Its dark green stem takes on purple and brownish hues and is equipped with numerous protruding tubercles. Its spines emerge from the white fluffy areolas that are found at the apex of the tubercles: there are thin white spines and other long, robust and black thorns that become greyish with time. This plant is much appreciated for its inflorescences with fuchsia petals. Its beautiful flowers bloom in spring.
