Gymnocalycium paediophilum (Cactus)

It is a small, light green, globular cactus, that grows spontaneously in a mountainous area of Paraguay, which is completely isolated from other vegetation. It has rounded and slightly tuberculated ribs, from which spines sprout: the radial ones are straight and rather long, of a grayish color; the single central one, which is present on each areole, is very robust and pungent, usually of a gray color and particularly rough to the touch. It is a very popular plant, as long as it represents a perfect combination of the reduced need of care and the extremely exotic appearance!
