Escobaria chihuahuensis (Cactus)

Very rare cactaceae characterized by globose stem and slightly depressed at the apex, which tends with the growth to become columnar without exceeding about 20 cm in height. It has conical tubercles strongly furrowed, at the apex of which well defined roundish areoles emerge. The stem of Escobaria is completely hidden by a large number of thick radial spines extremely thin and cream-colored, that radiate and wrap the cactus; the central spines are instead much longer and more robust on the notes of blackish-brown. Close to the apex of Escobaria chihuahuensis are graceful tubular flowers of a delicate pink with a yellow center, which give a touch of elegance to the ferocious appearance of the plant.
