Astrophytum myriostigma f. monstruosa (Cactus)

A globular cactus native to Mexico, Astrophytum is an easy-to-grow plant, best known for its more extravagant variants created in greenhouses. These deformations would be due to random genetic mutations and hormonal imbalances; among them we have unnatural replication of shoots, unusual branches, nodule formations and other modifications. The monstrous varieties tend to be more delicate than the crested ones, however for these unique and exclusive traits they are among the most sought after by enthusiasts.
