Description:

This cactacea is very fascinating and particular, its long, silvery strong thorns which arise from the well spaced areoles makes it beautifully vigorous. At the apex these become shorter and smaller. The stem is tinted in a wonderful deep green and defined by marked ribs. It has a columnar shape, even though in nature it can be found as a big evergreen shrub. S. Gummosus is a greatly loved plant, and it’s perfect to adorn in an original way and give a green touch to every space you want.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light and likes direct sun rays.

It likes hot and dry climates such as the desert ones from which it comes, however it resists well for long periods the temperatures above 8 °C (for short periods it can withstand even lower temperatures). It is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water once or twice a week in hot weather; it is preferable to completely suspend watering during the winter period.

It is better to use a substrate suitable for cacti, which is well draining, in order to prevent rotting of the roots.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
