Description:

Also called "Monkey's Chair" plant, due to its caudex, considered by many to be the largest of the caudiciforms, it can actually reach up to 1.5 meters width and 70 cm in height. Pyrenacantha malvifolia has long stems, that can reach up to 15 meters.

Plant care:

It likes very bright places, however, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water regularly but moderately during the vegetative period (when the new leaves are born), always making sure that the soil is always dry between one watering and another one, avoiding stagnation of water. During the dormant period (when the leaves begin to turn yellow and fall), suspend watering.

The best soil is a well-draining and porous one, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli or clay.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
