Description:

It is a small cactaceae plant with a solitary habit, which can occasionally cluster at the base. Its stem, light green, tending to olive green, concave at the apex, has multiple slender, well furrowed ribs of a very wavy shape, equipped with white downy areoles. The radial spines are thin, of a white color, while the brownish-yellow central spines are much longer and stiffer, of a flat shape, which tend to grow upwards. Flowering occurs in spring from the apex of the plant, generating small funnel-shaped flowers of a white color with purple veins.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 5 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in winter.

The best soil is a well-draining and porous one, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, lapilli or clay.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
