Description:

Very peculiar succulent, characterized by a woody caudex that grows in a columnar way, sometimes branching like a small shrub formed by a sort of external paper protection generated by the previous dry leaves. From the woody complex grow long and lanceolate leaves, thin and of grassy consistency that take on a pleasantly drooping trend with growth. In the cold periods between the emerald green of the foliage, graceful white flowers bloom with streaks matching the foliar epidermis. A curiosity: it is one of the rare species considered pyrophilous, whose rhizome has managed to survive even in soils burnt by fires!

Plant care:

Loves very bright positions, avoiding however, the direct rays of the sun in the hottest hours of the day, especially for young seedlings.

It prefers mild or warm temperatures, but also tolerates lower temperatures, provided that they exceed 7 ºC approximately. In winter it is advisable to place the plant sheltered in a dry place.

Moderate but regular watering is recommended during the growing season, only when the soil is completely dry. When the plant goes into vegetative rest it is preferable to completely suspend the water supply.

A strongly draining substrate is optimal to avoid water stagnation and eventual caudex rot. We recommend a soil specific for succulents, with the possible addition of pumice or lapillo to make the compound more porous.

It does not need frequent fertilizations, it will be sufficient to add liquid fertilizer to the water of the waterings once a year.
