Peperomia

Peperomia

The name derives from Greek and means "similar to pepper", as most of the species resemble, in some respects, this plant. It is a very large genus, in which only some species are considered succulents, and therefore also the peculiarities are extremely varied: there are climbing plants, bushy, some have fleshy stems, others are evergreen herbaceous. However, they have in common the particular shapes and bright colors of their shiny leaves, which give them an extremely ornamental look, perfect for decorating your houses. They are extremely suitable for giving a touch of color to offices or commercial places, thanks to their extreme simplicity of cultivation (no particular care is needed), and the shape, which remains compact and short without cluttering. Here are some tips for its cultivation: It requires a lot of light throughout the year. Avoid direct sun rays during the hottest hours of the day. Keep it at mild temperatures, never below 10 °C. It is recommended to shelter it in winter. Water regularly but moderately in spring-summer, always making sure that the soil is always dry between one watering and another. During the winter period water it every two months, avoiding stagnation of water. A well-draining soil is an optimal solution, possibly enriched with inert materials such as pumice or lapilli. They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
