Myrtillocalycium 'Polyp' f. crestata

This wonderful Cactaceae is a real explosion of colors and originality: it is a chimera, that is to say an absolute work of art, created by man grafting a specimen of Myrtillocactus Cochal with a Gymnocalycium red Hibotan hence the name of the plant that assembles that of the two parents. M. 'Polyp' f. crested is very sought after by collectors of the genus for its particular fan shape, which makes each exemplar unique in its kind. In its normal form, with growth, this magnificent cactus specimen takes on a cylindrical and very tortuous shape, often consisting of short twisted segments that develop asymmetrically on each other and recall the appearance of a polyp in motion. The strong point of M. 'Polyp' is undoubtedly the chromatic charm: along the epidermis the bright green alternates with a very bright red, further enriched sometimes by yellow shades, for an overall effect extremely dynamic and impossible to find in other plants!
