Euphorbia caput-aureum

Succulent with an extremely original appearance, often similar to a cactus due to the presence of showy thorns, from which, however, it differs at first sight for the growth of the foliage and especially for the type of inflorescence. It has a slender woody caudiciform stem, covered by a rough and veined bark, which tends to widen at the apex and to cover with thin brown-reddish spines. Right in the apical part grow, during the vegetative season, large ovoid leaves of an intense opaque green enriched by showy and abundant lighter veins. The entire leaf surface is completely covered by a thick whitish down that makes it velvety to the touch, protecting it from atmospheric agents and giving it, at the same time, a brilliant silvery reflection absolutely incomparable!
