Its name derives from Cipò - a Brazilian town from which these long columnar cacti, unbranched and of a typical bluish-green color, come from. They are characterized by the stems, which in nature may reach even two meters in height. The stems are covered with abundant spines that are never too long and perfectly symmetrical. It is highly appreciated for the inflorescences that bloom in the upper part of the stem, but they are also famous for the fruits of a particular blue color, very bright, which most of the species have. It is a cactus that generally is solemn but at the same time ornamental and very resistant! Here are some tips for its appropriate care and cultivation: It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day. It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period. Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water it once a week in spring and summer, reduce it to once every two months in autumn, and to suspend it completely in winter. The best soil is a draining one, for example formed by a mix of peat and pumice so that water does not stagnate. They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
