Avonia dinteri

The name of the species was chosen in honor of the German botanist M. Kurt Dinter. It is a peculiar succulent characterized by caudiciform base, globose and of about 2 cm of diameter, which serves as an important water reserve for the plant but in cultivation is also generally exposed outside the ground for ornamental purposes. From the caudex they grow facing upwards slender cylindrical stems, which do not exceed the 5-6 cm of height and give rise to a sort of peculiar pale green tuft adorned by whitish paper scales, which are stacked on each other along the length of the stems giving it a white and soft. At the apex of the short stems bloom small white and slightly pink flowers, in perfect line with the whiteness and refinement of this little jewel!
