Ferocactus wislizeni f. variegated (Variegated)

The variegated shape of this cactus is very sought after by collectors, due to the presence of typical yellow spots or streaks, in places where there is a lack of chlorophyll. F. wislizeni in its normal form is a globose cactus, which tends to become cylindrical during growth. Its stem is dark green and has numerous well marked ribs (similar, in mature exemplars, to an accordion), on which protrude white and woolly areoles. From the latter come out yellowish radial spines, long and thin, and more robust central spines, of reddish color and curved at the apex. During the flowering period, from summer to early autumn, F. wislizeni gives us beautiful flowers with bright colors, from yellow to red-orange, with a characteristic reddish median line and darker shaded tips.
