Description:
Synonym of Parodia Maassii, it is a globose cactus that is present in a wide geographical area, ranging from Bolivia to Argentina. It is a typical high mountain plant which has a bright green stem, with the apex covered with a white down. It has two kinds of spines: some light, thin radial spines, which are much less evident, than the rigid central ones, which are very long and hooked, with strong colors, ranging from yellow to brown or even black. The inflorescences arise at the apex, they are funnel-shaped and vary in color from orange to a carmine red, but occasionally we can find spectacular shades of orange and red on its petals.

Plant care:
It likes very bright positions, however avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, once a month in autumn and to suspend watering completely in winter.
A soil suitable for cacti is an optimal solution, even better if further mixed with pumice or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
